Menu Bar

Menu BarThe Menu Bar is a bit complex. It consists of three parts. The first part, which does most of the work, is controlled in the cascading style sheet and only thing that is adjustable in the cascading style sheet is the size of each button on the menu bar. We will go over more on how the menu bar works in with the cascading style sheet in the CSS section of this course.

The second part is the two images that are used to create the buttons on the menu bar.

The last part is the actual code that is used to add each button to the menu bar. Once the menu bar is set up a simple line of code for button on the menu bar is that that is needed.

Since some visitors access the web through a cell phone, each portion works together to create a list menu instead of an image menu so that cell phone users can read and navigate the menu of your website.

There are many different types and styles of menu bars that can be downloaded. We continually collect images for to download, modify, and use. Each set is downloadable in a zip file format and come with installation instructions in a small text file.

However, if a menu bar is not needed and it never will be needed, we will show you how to remove it. We don't recommend doing this because it is much harder to put it back later. Instead, maybe use this area as a color bar, or put some small bit of information here. But if you really want, we do show you how to remove it.

Let's get started on customizing this menu bar and make it ready for your website.
